3rd Chief of Army Staff Inter School Running Cricket Tournament 2010

Birendra Sainik School lifted the Third Chief of the Army Staff-Inter School Running Cricket Trophy with a eight-run win over AVM on Thursday. Saugat Basnet’s half-century helped Birendra Sainik School clinch the trophy at the home ground.
The hosts had a bad start as they lost a couple of wicket early. However, opener Saugat remained 65 not out to take the team to a defendable target. Saugat’s 65 runs off 56 balls including seven boundaries helped Birendra Sainik School set a target of 131 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Sujan Basnet and Roshan Karki added 17 runs each to the total while Shreegesh Shakya and Umanga Pradhan bagged two wickets each for AVM.
In reply AVM too got off to a rocky start. Rojwol Karmacharya and Anupam Karki steadied the innings. Karmachary remained 41 not out while Karki added 37 runs. Together, they added 69 runs for the fifth wicket and AVM looked poised to reach the target. However, Amrit Dhwoj Adhikari broke the partnership. He caught and bowled Karki in 18th over to reduce AVM to 94/5 and they eventually fell short of eight runs.
The Winners were awarded with Medals,Certificates and Running Trophy by the Chief Guest, Chief of Army Staff Gen.Chhatra Man Singh Gurung amid huge cheers.
